SUMMARY:Webinar: “Should I stay or should I go?” – Voices from within\, and beyond\, the oil and gas industry
DESCRIPTION:Presenters:\nGrace Augustine (Associate Professor in Business and Society at the University of Bath)\nFabien Littel (Lecturer in People and Organisations at Oxford Brookes University) \nWhen: Friday 13th November 12.30 – 13.30 GMT \nIn 2023\, the IPCC made it clear that no new fossil fuel projects should be pursued. Three years down the line\, oil and gas operators have doubled down on their fossil fuels extraction activities\, leaving behind any former ambitions for low / no carbon energy transition they had previously articulated. For many working in the industry and concerned for the future of our environment\, justifying their ongoing involvement with the oil and gas sector becomes ever more challenging. \nThis webinar will introduce the Life After Oil project and community\, with updates on recent activity\, and present new research on why oil and gas workers with significant climate concerns are choosing to stay in or leave the industry\, and how they navigate the moral\, emotional\, and career consequences of their decisions. \nDrawing on in-depth interviews with over 50 current and former oil and gas workers\, the session explores the motivations\, turning points\, and pathways of those who have stepped away from the industry due to the climate crisis\, alongside insights into why others remain despite growing unease. \nThis webinar is aimed at anyone who wants to understand how climate concerns are translating into decisions to stay or leave the oil and gas sector—including current industry professionals\, former employees\, researchers\, and others interested in the human dimensions of energy transition. For those still working in the industry who may be in the process of navigating their next career moves\, we hope that this knowledge and community can help them feel less alone in their own experiences and challenges. \nThe webinar will combine the introduction of the Life After Oil project along with presentation of research findings with space for questions and discussion. \nRegister now to join the webinar \n  \nImage credit: Pexels pexels-eyupbeyhan-10544345

DESCRIPTION:Business Declares are delighted to be collaborating with the National Emergency Briefing for a special screening of the 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲’𝘀 𝗘𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗺 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝙗𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨\, convening an audience of 𝟯𝟱𝟬 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 – the most ambitious and high-profile event in our 7-year history. \nThe film brings together leading experts who set out\, clearly and directly\, what climate and nature breakdown means for our health\, food systems\, national security and economy and the types of actions we might choose to take. It also allows space for our human responses. After the film\, participants will then have the opportunity to discuss in small\, facilitated groups what these wider systemic impacts could mean for the resilience of their organisations\, as well as networking opportunities with like-minded people from other organisations. \nThe intention of the event is to sharpen our collective understanding of the risks ahead and ways to build resilience. We hope you will be inspired to take the film and workshop format back into your own organisation – engaging your business and catalysing deeper\, bolder strategic action to build that resilience at organisational and system levels. \nWe would love you to be part of this experience with us – you can sign up for tickets below: \n📍 𝗣𝗶𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹\, 𝗟𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗻 (1-min walk from Piccadilly Circus Tube)\n🗓️ 𝟮𝟰𝘁𝗵 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲; 𝟵 𝗮𝗺 – 𝟭𝟮 𝗻𝗼𝗼𝗻 𝗚𝗠𝗧
