Business Declares and the National Emergency Briefing are bringing together 350 business leaders for a special screening exploring the implications of climate and nature breakdown for businesses, the economy and society.

On 24 November 2026, business leaders will gather at Picturehouse Central in London for the Business Emergency Briefing, an event designed to help organisations better understand the risks posed by climate and nature breakdown and explore how they can build resilience in response.

Organised by Business Declares in collaboration with the National Emergency Briefing, the event will bring together an audience of 350 business leaders for a screening of the Emergency Briefing film, followed by facilitated discussions and networking.

The film features leading experts examining how climate and nature breakdown could affect some of the most fundamental aspects of society, including public health, food systems, national security and the economy. Alongside outlining the risks, it explores the choices available to us and the human responses to the challenges ahead.

Following the screening, attendees will have the opportunity to take part in small, facilitated group discussions, considering what these interconnected risks could mean for their organisations and how businesses can prepare for an increasingly uncertain future.

The event will also provide an opportunity to connect with people from across the business community, share perspectives and explore how organisations can work towards a more resilient future.

The initiative aims to strengthen collective understanding of the challenges ahead and encourage businesses to translate that understanding into meaningful action. Organisers hope attendees will take the film and discussion format back to their own workplaces, using it to engage colleagues, inform strategic decisions and encourage more ambitious approaches to organisational and wider systemic resilience.

The screening brings together a range of organisations working across business, sustainability and communications. Alongside Business Declares and the National Emergency Briefing, the event involves entrepreneur and Dragons’ Den investor Deborah Meaden, academic and author Professor Paul Behrens, and Angela Francis, alongside Triodos Bank, Arup, the UK Green Film Network and Picturehouse.

For Life After Oil, the event offers an opportunity to bring conversations about the future of business into sharper focus, recognising the importance of understanding the challenges ahead and supporting people and organisations as they navigate the transition towards a more sustainable future.
