Afternoon Deep Time Walk

Join us on Monday 27th July for a LAO community get together in central London location (exact location tbd).
Take a guided 4.6km walk through 4.6 billion years of Earth history, led by one of our LAO Geologists, Jo Alexander. Starting at the Albert memorial in Hyde Park and ending in Marble Arch, we’ll hear about the events that have shaped our home planet, which puts into perspective the impact that humans are having.
The walk will start at 2pm and take 3 to 4 hours, so there will be lots of opportunity for discussion and we will make sure we stop for comfort breaks and snacks along the way.
What is a Deep Time Walk?
A Deep Time Walk is a 4.6 kilometre guided walk through the entire 4.6 billion year history of our living Earth. Each metre represents one million years. Accompanied by a facilitator, participants walk together through the formation of Earth, the emergence of life, mass extinctions, and the breathtakingly recent arrival of humans.
Walks are led by trained facilitators in communities around the world. They are designed to shift perspective helping you feel, not just understand, the depth of time and the fragility of our
moment within it.
